flyingscotsman asked: No worries Nate! However while I see your argument I'll make one point and leave. Artists make the overwhelming majority of their revenue from live concerts and special engagement tickets, and merchandise sales. Record companies make money off album sales. How many people have gone to pay for tickets at a concert featuring a band that they first discovered due to pirated/redistributed material? I'm not saying pirating music is right in all cases but I just wanted you to see my side.
That’s such a good point. I agree with you on that. And I guess my perspective is from a broader view of any creative content, but I stuck with the musician example that had been used in the joke.
I guess my real beef is with what seems to be a prevalent mentality I see these days where people think they should be getting everything for free, and we resent anyone who is successful and wealthy, no matter how they got there.
Here’s a different example. I see people complaining about sites like thefrogman.me or pleated-jeans.com having ads. Those sites are good examples of individuals who are providing us with a great product. They spend hours every day working to create new original content on a daily basis. And you get to see that great content for FREE. The small charge you have to pay is seeing a few ads on their site. And that’s ONLY if you go to their main site. If you follow them on Tumblr, you never see those ads.
I guess my main point is, if a product or service provides you value then you should be willing to pay for it.

Wow, the comments on this thread are painfully stupid. Not all of them. But most of them. If you’re a Reddit user check this out and hey, maybe give me a shout out. CLICK HERE

Wait…that isn’t that how everyone shaves?
