If the Webby Awards declare a Meme dead…
does that mean that we can no longer do them? Or can we challenge their authority? Can Memes become undead? Zombie Memes?
It’s weird how Reddit (and other internet groups, but mostly Reddit) get so defensive about memes. Yeah, they’re often just vehicles for dumb jokes, but when you see universities run them into the ground with misuse and/or good old-fashioned bad humor, suddenly, they’re worth getting mad about, I guess?

I like how the Reddit user who created this thinks of himself, and the rest of Reddit, as Agent Smith, a mindless AI program here to destroy anything that brings instability to their simulated reality. Because that’s how I think of them too.
